Re: Girls do it best
I agree totally the girls are smarter they catch on faster and they hunt earlier than the boys do..I have had boys 2 years old just figure it out where the girls at 5 or 6 months are like a lightbulb...BOOM!!!

Oh That is so true. My girls are staring very young at hunting. The boys are normally way over a year before they even get a clue.

Re: Girls do it best
9 mo Maverick already goes after birds and rabbits, but he doesn’t understand the concept of sneak or to run after the game to catch it not just prance up to where they were standing and look back at me like "Dad, did you see that ?". That settles it! Our next Decker is definitely going to be a GIRL! Maybe she will teach little Maverick the ropes of hunting. Monkey see monkey do!

Re: Girls do it best
I would like to get back on a deer lease so I can teach him to track downed deer. That would be awesome! Maybe this year I will find a place for us to hunt on.

Re: Girls do it best
Anyone else use their Decker for Nose Work or lure coursing? I think they should excel at these sports with their natural hunting drive and I think it is a good outlet for dogs without access to actual hunting. We are trying nose work and Timber loves the hunt. Next up is a coursing aptitude test.....

Re: Girls do it best
Honestly I think Lure Coursing they would totally shine at!!! Mine love to chase a plasic bag on the end of a cane pole or even my fishing pole bait...ha!..I play for hours with puppies they LOVE it!!! I remember some one had a light pointer and the dogs went APE on it too. My American Hairless Terriers LOVE to do the same thing so its gotta be a rattie thing wether small or giant Rat Terriers -they do love to go after stuff....LOL!!
